Serendipity 3 – the 5 hour wait was now only 1, but we hung out in the lobby since there were only about 5 people milling about waiting for a table. No sooner did we find a good place to wait they called our name. A Summer Bries, Challah bread french toast, Lemon Icebox pie and Frrrrozen Hot Chocolate, yummy! Definately worth a visit next time we’re in the big apple!
Once sufficiently full from Serendipity 3 – we took the subway over to Greenwich to find the annual “War is Over” billboard that Yoko Ono puts up each holiday season. Turns out – we had just missed it (we found the billboard it “was” on – but they’d already replaced the image… bummer) – but we had a nice walk back from Greenwich, even in the drizzle.
We walked back to “The Rock” to check out the xmas tree, wtach the ice skaters, and even popped into the Hilton to ask the concierge if there was a decent tea house nearby. (They obviously don’t get asked that alot – they pulled up some Yahoo references for us – but suggested we try the Japanese department store on 5th ave… which was closed. Bummer)
We headed to Le Zie for dinner… Then hopped the subway again to “the best italian bakery” per brother Kevin: Veniero’s. And he wasn’t kidding. Just looking around in there was almost enough – but we had to get a tart and something chocolate & delicious for dessert & took our treasures back to the hotel….
Good thing we do so much walking in NYC!
